* PLEASE NOTE *

I am currently developing a new website.     Somethingincredible.ca will continue to be in use for now. Eventually, I will migrate all the information over to the new site.

I am once again working independently. To hear about some of the   kids' crazy activities, journal entries, math games, technology  lessons,  and science experiments I did in my last three schools, here is a link to my class's instagram page.

My school for the 2016/2017 school year, David Lloyd George, created a mannequin challenge video for Canada's 150 birthday. As you might guess, I am up the usual science tricks. If you don't want to watch the whole 19 minute video, but are wondering what we did in my classroom, skip to 14:07. To view the video on YouTube, go to this page on YouTube. In the event that Weebly's link feature is not working, the URL is below.

I post teaching resources on Teachers Pay Teachers (not just science)

Picture
If you are interested in teaching resources I created across the subject areas*, head to Teachers Pay Teachers to  check out my "store." (*eventually)

I am too busy at this time to add new resources.

They will be useful to teachers, early childhood educators, out of school care leaders, home learner parents and possibly North Korean dictators.

Feel free to email me suggestions of resources you would like to see. I can be emailed at  glennfromx2 (at) gmail.com.

Rube Goldberg Device - Cordova Bay School

Here is something my students did last year related to my passion (science education). They built a Rube Goldberg Device. Rube Goldberg drew comics of "simplified" things.
Picture
So my grade three and four students (2013/2014) made a "simplified" bell with about twelve steps. The best part was watching them solve problems, often in ways I had not thought of.

Aaron and I did a double feature science show at the Brentwood Bay Community Hall (2013)

Picture
Glenn Kachmar and Aaron Bannister put on two science shows on Aug. 18 at the Brentwood Bay Community Hall. Admission was free, but many people made a donation. We raised $178 and will make a $90 donation to Peninsula Streams. The event ran from 1:00 to 3:15 and included a bubble show (Aaron), stations to do hands-on science and a Whiz Bang Science Show (Glenn).

Interview on the Zone with Dylan and Jason (FM91.3)

I had an interview on The Zone to discuss the Double Feature Science Show. I recorded it with an app called Piezo and trimmed the the extra stuff off either end and exported it as an mp3 file with GarageBand. The interview is to the right. Let me know if the sound clip doesn't work on your computer. But it should.

Although I am now working for the Vancouver School Board, I may be available to do science shows and workshops. The "TRY THIS AT HOME!" button is a page with science or (sciencey) art ideas for rainy days. We are planning to do more professional development this year as well.  New workshops have been posted including coding workshops for elementary teachers.
