Science is a vast store of wisdom and I thought it would be a good idea to share a few inspirational quotes. Reflecting on these, has made me realize that the Carl Sagan quote that inspired this website's name, is both the purpose of my website and my inspiration to teach.

Hey and if you aren't into this, that's okay. I think there may still be a few episodes of Jersey Shore to go (kidding).

Of course, starting with Carl Sagan is the obvious choice as the name of my website came from a Carl Sagan quote (the title of this post).

Carl Sagan
Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge.

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Marie Curie
Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.

Stephen Hawking

We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.

It is not clear that intelligence has any long-term survival value.

Claude Lévi-Strauss
The scientist is not a person who gives the right answers, he's one who asks the right questions.

Isaac Asimov
The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.

If I have been able to see further, it was only because I stood on the shoulders of giants.

Neil deGrasse Tyson
The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it.

The problem, often not discovered until late in life, is that when you look for things in life like love, meaning, motivation, it implies they are sitting behind a tree or under a rock. The most successful people in life recognize, that in life they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, they generate their own motivation. For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you.

Jacques Cousteau
What is a scientist after all? It is a curious man looking through a keyhole, the keyhole of nature, trying to know what's going on.

Christopher Hitchens
That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

Niels Bohr
Your theory is crazy, but it's not crazy enough to be true.

Arnold H. Glasow
The fewer the facts, the stronger the opinion.

Mark Russell
The scientific theory I like best is that the rings of Saturn are composed entirely of lost airline luggage.

Albert Einstein
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

If there is any religion that could respond to the needs of modern science, it would be Buddhism.

Arthur C. Clarke
I'm sure the universe is full of intelligent life. It's just been too intelligent to come here.

Lawrence M. Krauss
Every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics: You are all stardust. You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded, because the elements - the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution and for life - weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars, and the only way for them to get into your body is if those stars were kind enough to explode. So, forget Jesus. The stars died so that you could be here today
